Redmond Regional Medical Center received support from the Rome-Floyd Planning Commission for a required special-use permit to begin construction of a new helipad on the hospital campus. The Rome City Commission will make a final decision on the special-use permit later this month. If approved, Redmond will begin construction of a new helipad on the hospital campus, just outside the ambulance entrance of the emergency room. The current helipad is located on a grassy area of the campus, between the hospital and Redmond Road.
